Her aft cockpit, plumb bow line and twin rudder configuration, combined with her sail plan, makes her a fast, fun and exhilarating yacht to sail. The Southerly 110 has a raised pilot house, large saloon and spacious aft double cabin together with the benefits of the swing keel.

CURRENT OWNERS COMMENTS

This boat has been a delight to own and we have had endless fun aboard. She sails well in all seas and notably down wind in a big swell. The twin rudders pay for themselves in such situations. At first shallow draft manoeuvring in a crosswind kept everyone entertained until I discovered aunique handling technique of applying opposite rudder to bow thruster. With any crosswind simply engage low speed drive, steer with the wind (which will be in the opposite direction you want to go) and apply the bowthruster into wind the head off the bow. The effect is to move sideways through the water into wind, although it takes a little nerve in a lock! This is very effective because of the Southerly's two features of shallow draft and twin rudders. People have asked me about the name. It simple derives from the Greek for the Wind of the Spirit and it suit her well. We are sad to be selling her but having bought a house on the sea in Cornwall with the use of

length restricted swinging moorings my boating needs have changed.
